I believe there are two types of horse enthusiasts. The first type is passengers or those who get on a horse to travel. They expect no effort, a comfortable saddle, and believe a horse cannot be affected by the rider’s posture, weight or riding abilities. Passengers are not necessarily inexperienced. They can also be competition riders. The second type is (real) riders, r the ones who always focus on improving their riding skills, and have at least minimal understanding that horseback riding, no matter whether you pursue recreationally or as horse racing sport, requires mental, muscular, and cardiovascular effort.

If you ride a horse as a passenger or a traveler, you expect the horse to the whole job. Just sitting in the saddle is not a good idea, and it can lead to many problems, such as back pain, muscle cramps and similar. This happens because you are not retaining a good posture while riding. On the flip side, if you are a real rider, you will put in as much effort as your horse does. When you ride a horse like a real rider, you can improve your core stability and posture, tone your muscles and even lose weight. Horseback riding can be a real workout that can completely replace weight lifting or aerobic exercise. Overall, riding can be a fantastic way for active, fit and healthy lifestyle.
